Time and tides have uncovered remnants of cold war military installations that were once located beside the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Contaminated soil and exposed septic and pipe systems are now visible on the beach forcing it to be closed. Hopefully it will be cleaned up soon and we can get back to enjoying this historic stretch of sand.
