150th Anniversary for Bodie Island Lighthouse
October 1st marks the 150th year of this light guiding the way on the North Carolina shore. My last trip out had just a bit too much moonlight and a bit too much clouds to get the shots I wanted.

There will be a ceremony at 10am on October 1st to celebrate the first lighting with remarks from Cape Hatteras National Seashore, United States Coast Guard, Outer Banks Lighthouse Society and descendants of lighthouse keepers.
An informal gathering is scheduled for 5:45pm on the grounds of the Bodie Island Light Station. Visitors will hear stories from United States Life-Saving Service and view a lighting of the first order Fresnel lens.
Tickets to climb the lighthouse will be free on October 1st and will require reservations, click here for the link. For more information click here for the National Parks website.
