One of the really neat parts of photography is that each photographer has their own way of doing things and this is especially true for post processing. We all watch tutorials, compare notes with others, experiment on our own and develop a unique style. I started doing star trails very early on, mostly because I lacked the ability to get much foreground into my shots. I wanted to create amazing shots that consisted mostly of the sky. My post-processing has evolved over the past year or so and I finally feel like I’m ready to share a bit of what I’ve learned.
I put together this tutorial based around using the program StarStax to create the trails. It goes through my workflow starting with Lightroom processing and ends with exporting a final image. I also use Photoshop and the NIK Collection, if you have any questions or comments please feel free to share.
